ATOMIC ENERGY CENTRAL SCHOOL NO -6, MUMBAI ANNUAL REPORT-2018-19

The school Annual Report 2018-19 articulates and demonstrates the mile stones achieved in realizing the mission and vision of Atomic Energy education Society. It clearly indicates the dynamic nature of our educational institutions, our commitment to excellence and our relentless pursuit of achieving our best. We aim to provide the best possible education for each student, ensuring they develop a broad range of skills to enable them to take responsibility for their own learning. I am hopeful that a brighter future is heralded in the years to come.

ACADEMICS

Excellence is not an act but a habit. Excellence in academics is the hall-mark of a good institution. Yet again another academic year of success and achievement unfolded with the CBSE board results of the academic year 2018-19. The students of our school brought laurels by getting 100% pass percentage and an astounding Excellence index of 86.27.

  In the Primary Section 93 students scored A+ in all subjects.

STUDENT AND STAFF STRENGTH

Established in 2007, we pride ourselves on our unique context. AECS-6 has classes from pre-prep to X STD. The total strength of the school is 795 out of whom 603 are DAE students, 117 belong to the Non DAE category and 75 come under RTE. The school has a total number of 35 teaching staff and 4 non teaching staff.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION ALL INDIA GENERAL KNOWLWDGE QUIZ 2018-19

Master Rakshak Sherigar of Class VIII secured first position in the All India General Knowledge Quiz 2018-19 organised by AEES at BARC Training School Hostel on 24th and 25th January 2019.

ALL INDIA INTER AECS MUSIC COMPETITION

The school Team participated in the All India Inter AECS Music competition held at AECS Narora from 8 November 2019 to 10 November, 2019. Master Sarvesh Iyer of Class 10 M won second prize in the string/wind category.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS
  • Master Somen stood first in the Garodian Young Achievers Cup in the Badminton championship event( Boys Under 16 category)
  • Ms.Nainika P Navrath of Class 6 won the Maurya’s Best presentation Award at the All India Art Competition organized by Darshini Kalai Koodam on 23 January 2019.
  • Ms. Ananya Goswami stood first in Chess (Girl Under 16) organized by Anushaktinagar residents’ Welfare Association on 12th and 13th January 2019 and at SPLASH cultural Festival organized by New Community Centre, Anushaktinagar from 9th to 17th November 2019 in the Female Open Category.
  • Ms. Akanksha P Navrath stood third in the Art Competion conducted by Shivai Seva Mandal, Parel, Bhoiwada on 9 September, 2019.
  • The school team was the winner of the Inter School Quiz Competition at the Children’s Fest organized by BARC on 18 October, 2019 in DAE Convention Centre as a part of Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Centenary Celebrations.
  • Mrs. Anjana Majhi TGT(Hindi/Sanskrit) won the First prize in the Essay Writing Competition organized by Navi Mumbai Nagar Rajbhasha Karanvayan Samiti on 31 September, 2019. Her essay ‘Bhiksha-Vriti Samaj Ka Kalank’ has been published in their souvenir ‘Samanvay’.
  • Smt. Ashwini Gowardhan Nagrale was bestowed with Central level AEES Award recognizing her dedication, hard work, creative mind and for helping many children of diverse background to realize their dreams.
  • Smt.Sunita Sakya PRT compered the 4th edition of Anushakti Monsoon Marathon on 28 July, 2019 and has been nominated as an official announcer for the 35th Annual Sports Meet to be held in December, 2019.

  • CELEBRATIONS AND OBSERVANCES

    The school had the following observances and celebrations during the academic year 2019-20.

    INVESTITURE CEREMONY

    The investiture ceremony was conducted on 4TH May 2019. Shri. V K Mishra, SO/G Head (H&CMS)DCSEM, Mumbai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The students were invested with ranks and were made a part of the school administration. Entrusting the students with responsibilities not only helps in the smooth functioning of the school but also prepares them to be better equipped to face the challenges of the world.

    SCIENCE, MATHS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION:

    The school level Science, Maths and Social Science Exhibition was held on 6 July, 2019. Shri. A K Wankhede, Chairman LMC, AECS/AEJC, Mumbai was the Chief Guest. Projects on various topics were displayed on the occasion. The best projects represented the school at the All India Inter AECS Science, Maths, Social Science and Teaching Aids Exhibition held at AECS-2, Hyderabad from 20 to 21 August, 2019.

    INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

    International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers at Atomic Energy Central School-6, Mumbai with great enthusiasm on 21 June, 2019 from 8 am to 9.30 am. The yoga sessions were conducted under the expert supervision and guidance of Dr.Avinash Desai and his team. Students of grade VI to X demonstrated various asanas, followed by Omkar chanting. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asanas. Importance of these were explained simultaneously. The celebration concluded with a reminder to the participants to keep performing asanas on a regular basis to remain fit and improve concentration. Our school hosted the yoga session for the officers and staff members of AEES too.

    EDUCATIONAL TOUR

    The students of the first and second standard spent their day out at Funshala, Byculla on 27 September, 2019. The educational Tour for other classes have been scheduled in the month of December, 2019.

    NATIONAL SPORTS DAY AND SPORTS ROUND UP

    The National Sports Day was organised paying tribute to Dhyan Chand, One of the greatest hockey players in the history of the sport.
    This year’s massive participation of students in the sports events particularly in the DSO was encouraged and promoted hoping to harvest rich dividends in future. The school teams participated in the Kurla taluk level table tennis(U14& U17 Boys and girls), Badminton(U14&U17 Boys and Girls), Football(U14 Boys), Basketball (U17 Girls & Boys).The school conducted inter house football, table tennis, badminton and throw ball matches. The students also participated in the Final selection trial among all AEC Schools, Mumbai for MSSA participation and two of our students Master Shirish Shivraj patil 7N(U/14 Boys) and Mast. Krishna Prasad Wagle 9M (U/16) have been selected.

    CELEBRATION OF FESTIVALS

    Festivals are an integral part of our culture. In order to inculcate the spirit of tolerance and respect for others’ sentiments, teachers along with students made an attempt to highlight the importance of some common festivals both cultural and national and the important message conveyed through them.

    HINDI DIWAS/ PAKHWADA

    The Hindi Pakhwada was observed in the school from ----- to --------. The teachers participated in competitions held at various AEC schools, Mumbai.

    CHILDREN’S DAY

    Children’s Day was celebrated the most entertaining and meaningful manner. The day started with the morning assembly conducted by the teachers who later also presented some cultural items. This was followed by different events-Art Mela for the Primary students and Fun games for the Secondary, a Magic show, Palm and foot printing and an hour long Zumpa.

    TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

    The Teachers’ Day was observed in the school on 16 November 2019 and the 10th standard students took over the entire functioning of the school in the first half of the day.
    In the common Teachers’ Day function held for all the AEC Schools and AEJC Mumbai at NPCL Multipurpose Hall.

    SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN/FORTNIGHT

    The Swachha Bharat observance was spread over a fortnight from 23 September , 2019 to October 2, 2019 as per the directives of CBSE.
    On 23rd Sep 2019, the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi started with a variety of activities in the morning assembly. Shri. P Lahiri, Secretary AEES, was the Chief Guest.
    The days followed witnessed different competitions and activite like coloring, drawing and painting, cleaning the school premises,Movie screening on the life history of the great Mahatma Gandhi, Hindi slogan writing reflecting the inspirational and motivating thoughts of the Mahatma, Essay Writing in Hindi on topics- Mahatma Ke Vichaar or Aaj ka Bharat, Collage Making, Quiz competition, English Handwriting and a Rally taken out in the colony.

    VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

    The Vigilance awareness week was observed from 28 October to 2 November 2019 on the theme “Integrity a Way of Life”. As a part of this, the staff members of AECS-6, took the Integrity Pledge. Various competitions like Essay Writing, Poetry writing, elocution and Slogan and Poster Making were organized.

    CONSTITUION DAY

    As a part of the observance of Constitution Day, the Preamble of the Constitution was read out in the morning assembly and speeches were delivered by the students and staff on 26th, November, 2019.

    LIBRARY WEEK

    The Library week for the academic year 2019-20 was celebrated enthusiastically from 14th Nov. to 23rd Nov. 2019. The following activities and competitions were conducted during the library week-Speech by Librarian and Students, Bookmark Making, Elocution on ‘The Importance of Library’’, Book Review Writing, Book Exhibition - New Arrivals, The Library Quiz, and ‘Tell Us Why’ Activity.The students were given prizes on the basis of their performance.

    CONTRIBUTION

    The school contributed a sum of Rs.18820/ for the cause of the differently abled, the National Association of Disabled’s Enterprises.

    CCA PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

    The CCA Prize Distribution Ceremony of the Primary Section was held on 19, October, 2019. The chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Shobha Nair, BARC Hospital, Mumbai. A total number of --- students out of ---- received prizes and certificates.
    The Pre Primary and the Secondary section had their CCA prize distribution on 8.11.2019. Dr. Ajay Choube Head Radiology Department, BARC Hospital Mumbai and Member LMC AECS/AEJC Mumbai was the chief guest. Out of the total---- students ----- received prizes and certificates.

    PARENT TEACHER MEETING

    Regular Parent Teacher meetings are held in the school to enable the parents and teachers to have a healthy interaction. During this academic Year, Parent Teacher Meetings were held on 27 July, 2019and 5 October, 2019. Meeting was also conducted exclusively for the RTE students of Class 1 and those of classes 9 and 10.

    SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

    The School Advisory Committee is a committee comprising of parents and teachers headed by the Vice Principal. This committee met on 27 July,2019 and 23 November, 2019 and had a meaningful discussion on the activities of the school. Suggestions of the members go a long way in the growth and smooth functioning of the school.

    SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

    The Safety Committee meeting was held on 1 December, 2018 and 23 November, 2019.

  • “Ideas shape the course of history as the pen is mightier than the sword.”
    The school magazine ANUSPLASH is the window to the activities of the school. School magazine widens the knowledge and helps in developing the power of writing of the budding writers. The magazine also highlights the successes and achievements of the school students.
  • ELECTION OF STUDENT OFFICE BEARERS
    The student council members for the year 2019-20 were elected by the secondary students and the staff of the school following a democratic process.

  • Under the special initiative of Shri. A K Wankhede, Chairman LMC AECS/AEJC, Mumbai co-ordinated by Dr. Padmanilaya, Member LMC a series of lectures were organized for the students of class 9.
  • The students of class 9 visited Nehru Science Centre and attended a lecture on Silicon Valley.
  • The students of class 9 were also privileged to visit TIFR on 24, November, 2019.
  • The teachers Smt. Amla Pandit TGT and Smt. Anjana Majhi TGT held a session exclusively for the girl students of Classes 9 and 10 on Personal Hygiene.
  • Shri. Francis Aloor PRT conducted a session on ‘Chandrayaan’.

  • STAFF ACTIVITIES AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES

    “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, Learn as if you were to live forever.”

    The year 2019-20 continued to witness a number of staff activities in AECS-6.

  • Shri. Joseph M A attended the first spell of the In-Service training programme for TGT English at K V SAC, Ahmedabad from 06 June, 2019 to 17, June, 2019.
  • Smt. Sujata Homray PRT and Smt. Meenal PRT attended Inservice Training at K V RHE Pune from 6 June 2019 to 17, June 2019.
  • Smt. Anjana Majhi TGT, Sri. Gopal Krishna PRT, Smt. Lucy Antony PRT, Smt. Sunita D Sakya PRT, Sri. Francis Aloor, PRT and Smt. Asha Nair, pre Teacher attended Heartfulness Education Teacher Training Program ‘INSPIRE’ held from 17 to 19 June, 2019 at AEJC, Mumbai.
  • Smt. Meenal Patil PRT, Smt. Parul Jain PRT, smt. Vandana Srivastava PRT, Sri.Francis Aloor and Ms.Serifa Pinheiro completed successfully PDPET bridge course of six months conducted by NIOS.
  • Smt. Shubhangi PRT attended a session on Guidelines for RTE Admission and their welfare at S Guruji Vidyalay, Dadar.

  • A THANKSGIVING

    Respected Chief Guest of this function and other honourable dignitaries, it is now time that I reflect on and acknowledge the support and encouragement that AECS-6 has received from several dignitaries and from various quarters.

    I wholeheartedly thank our honourable Chairman AEES, Shri. S. Sarkar and the Secretary AEES, Shri,P Lahiri, for their words of wisdom and thoughtful insights that guided us round the year. We earnestly look forward to receiving sustained support and encouragement from our esteemed management.

    I am indebted to all the staff of DCS&EM, Departments of Electricity, Civil, Security, Fire Safety and all other sections and departments of Anushaktinagar for ensuring that the requirements of our school are timely and unconditionally attended.

    I take this opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Local Management Committee Shri A K Wankhede, and all the LMC members who have given unstinted support throughout the year.

    Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. We at AECS-6 will continue our unceasing efforts to mould the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of the great portal of education, Atomic Energy Education Society. On this memorable occasion as we recount our success with pride and happiness, we wish to dedicate all our achievements to the committed effort of a committed team called Atomic Energy Central School-6 under the dynamic leadership of Atomic Energy Education Society. We humbly salute our visionary leaders of the past and the great ones of the present and seek divine grace and blessings to guide us in all our endeavors.
